Kamil - Oil Painting
Kamil (Kamila Luethy) was born in Poland into an artistic family and began drawing and painting at an early age. After school, her playground was her granfather's carpenter workshop, where she studied and practised brush skills. In 2005, she moved to Sacramento, California, where she has worked in an art studio of Hong Kong artist Jason Gong besides her graphic design studies.
Kamil paints in loud and dominant styles, cheap brushes are used to apply dripping oils in crude fast brush strokes, experimental combinations of oil paint and crayons, tropical colour pallets carried to the extreme. From the inspiration she draws on to her choice of subject matter and the materials she uses. Kamil's work is a celebration of diversity in every sense.
Kamil currently lives in the capital city of Bern, Switzerland, which is largely surrounded by agricultural fields and forests.
Her fascination with the Swiss nature and wine regions, quickly became an inspiration for creating a fictional body of work.
Her style and oil painting techniques are influenced by painters like Paul Gauguin or David Grossmann.
